From ₹3 in his pocket to a global fabric enterprise — the journey of GAKAT Textiles is one of grit, relationships, and love for the craft.
"I started with no formal education — only determination, honest relationships, and a love for textiles."
Born into humble beginnings, I entered the textile trade as a young sales officer at D.R. Ranka & Sons, the sole distributor of VIMAL (Reliance Group) in Bangalore. This gave me the rare privilege of working under the vision of Dhirubhai Ambani, Mukesh Ambani, Anil Ambani and Devraji Ranka — giants who shaped modern Indian textiles.
I then honed my craft at Sohanlal & Sons (BSL Suitings) and later at Vimaldeep, under the wise guidance of Shantilal J. Khabiya — all in Bangalore's vibrant textile belt.
Arrived in Salem.
My special gratitude to Rampal Je Anchaliya, Subhkaran Je Sethia, Narendra Kumar Rathore, Chinnasamy Je, Ashok Kalra, Parrivallal Malliga, Lunkar Lodha Family and my friends & well wishers.
